Most Americans Would likely Fail this 8th Grade Exam from 1912

Having Google at your disposal doesn’t make you a genius. If you’d been considering your acumen up to mark, it’s probably time to revisit because you will probably find a hard time solving the riddles of the earlier 20th century 8th grade examinations. I mean did you actually know what were the Capitals of the States bordering Ohio River when you were an 8th grader? ( I even doubt you know which States Border Ohio River). The Bullitt County Genealogical Society has reproduced a paper from 1912 which was given to the students of Bullitt County, Kentucky. The paper had different sections like Arithmetic, Mathematics, Science and Writing.

You’ll be amazed to throw a look at the papers because the sagacity of the questions will blow off your mind. Did you know the battles of Lundy’s Lans, Antietam, Buena Vista were fought in what wars? This was a small figment of the difficult horrid looking paper. Complex questions about physiology, geography, civil government are obscuring for a college level student these days let alone an 8th grader. Check out for yourselves and let us know how many questions you can solve. [via smithsonianmag]
