Underwater Museum in Mexico

By on December 13, 2009 in Art & Design

When you visit Mexico the first thing that comes into mind is beach and football, but a few people know about the underwater museum project, in the Caribbean Sea. The museum is 400ft below sea level near the Mexican city, Cancun (one of the best tourist places in world). The museum, which will have the capacity to entertain 750,000 tourists yearly, is still under construction and will open to public in 2011.

The sculptures are made using neutral PH material to keep them Sea-Environment friendly and that they wouldn’t cause any damage to aquatic creatures. As we speak, there are already some sculptures placed in the museum.

This is not underwater Mexico!!!!! This is the underwater Sculpture Garden in Grenada my country!!!! Please edit the location properly. Great pics though!

Well, dani you are correct. Which you already knew, but all these pics were taken from: http://www.underwatersculpture.com/index.asp
I am so glad you caught this. Now I won’t make plans to go to Mexico.

Jane, thanks for the link to the artist's website. Jason de Caires Taylor's work is amazing.

It is wrong to post images of an artist's work without bothering to credit him… AND then to get the location totally wrong on top of that… Jeesh.

But you can still make plans to go to Mexico:
